Air filter with intake pipe for Zenith carburetors
Ford Model-A 1928-1931 ( does not fit right-hand drive vehicles)
This air filter unit has a washable metal filter
Please note these installation instructions
Due to the large filter size this device uses, proper assembly is very important
You must have an appropriate distance between the filter and the exhaust.
We recommend a 1/2" gap between the filter element and the exhaust pipe
When installing the aluminum portion of this filter assembly onto your carburetor, it must be fully seated until it stops.
If you cannot fit the aluminum portion of the filter assembly all the way, take a round file and enlarge the slots
File away enough material so that you can push the filter assembly in far enough
to achieve the correct distance between the filter and the exhaust system
You need to tighten the bolt that holds the filter to the carburettor well,
During assembly, check the distance to the exhaust pipe as the position of the filter changes when tightened.
Do not overtighten this bolt or you may damage the carburetor.
Improperly bent or improperly installed exhaust systems can also cause clearance problems
Make sure your exhaust is attached to the frame with an original clamp.
When driving your vehicle, be careful not to operate the vehicle with the ignition lever in the fully retarded position.
This causes the exhaust manifold to heat up "cherry red" in a very short time
This heat radiates downward into the exhaust, causing excessive heat in the engine compartment
