Hold the case against the support brace inside the body

and carefully tap the center punch against the body panel enough to

that you can see the point where you want to drill the hole.

Now go out of the car and tap the mark inwards a little with a center punch.

The hole is now exactly in line with the inner strut.

It is best to drill the body panel with a hole saw that has a pilot drill

or with a step drill
