King pin repair kit
Ford Model A 1928-1931
Use this kit if your original spindle bolts (kingpins) are in usable condition
This repair kit contains all bushings, bearings and small parts as you see in the picture
Danger:
The kingpins A-3111-KP-Q2 are not included and must be ordered separately
Installation instructions:
Worn spindle bolt parts contribute to rough steering and shimmy.
This set contains the knurled locking pin (Style 3, as in the judging standards) with the long locking nut used from 1929-1931.
Place the washer against the bottom of the axle with the felt underneath the washer.
The felt can be attached to the lower spindle arm with rubber adhesive,
to hold it in position during assembly.
The bearing sits on top of the axle with the open side of the bearing facing down.
One or more washers are located between the bottom of the bearing and the top of the axle.
Ream the bushings to .814.
When connecting the brake lever to the socket or cup of the spindle bolt, check that
whether the lever can be moved freely by moving the clevis of the brake rod back and forth.
If you feel any pulling or binding, it is the spindle bolt sleeve
may not be aligned with the end of the lever shaft.
This can be corrected by filing the cross section in the shaft of the spindle bolt,
to change the angle at which the sleeve sits on the lever shaft.
