Dust cap nickel with rubber ring for tire valve (rubber valve)
Ford Model T 1916-1927
Only for vehicles with wooden rims
These nickel plated brass dust caps attach to rubber valve stems through the 5/16 thread normally found on a plastic
Dust cap on a new hose is covered.
Simply remove the plastic dust caps and replace them with these authentic looking brass dust caps.
A movable insert inside the dust cap can be adjusted with a 3/8 Allen key so that the dust cap sits firmly on
the rim presses
Use the included rubber washer to prevent the cover from damaging the paint on the rim or rim flange.
Bolt the cover on until it touches the washer
Then turn it another half turn while pulling it up, which will stretch the rubber stem slightly so that when you release it
there is a slight tension that prevents the brass cover from coming loose.
The insert is designed to fit more tightly into the brass cover than onto the valve stem
If you find that this is not the case and the insert remains on the spindle instead of remaining in the cover,
First check that the insert moves freely on the threads of the spindle.
If not, run a die over the spindle threads to clean them.
If this is the case, the insert in the cover must be moved more slowly.
This can be done by carefully compressing the last threads of the insert with side cutters
Place the pliers on the hexagon socket of the insert on one of the surfaces and proceed carefully.
If the compression is too strong, the insert will get stuck in the cover and the hexagon socket will be knocked out with the wrench!
Notice :
This valve cap fits all Model-Ts from 1909 to 1927
You need 4 pieces per vehicle
